Superintendent Binienda's First Week Message
On Tuesday, May 24, 2016 I began my position as Superintendent of the Worcester Public Schools. I want to thank all Worcester Public School staff for your support and words of congratulations. I also thank the Worcester School Committee for their confidence in appointing me to this vital position. I look forward to working with all of you as we continue together in our mission to make the Worcester Public Schools the most effective school system in Massachusetts.
In the last few weeks, I have visited Chandler Elementary, Chandler Magnet, and Rice Square Schools. I am impressed with the dedication of the faculty and school administration, and the focus on learning that I observed in each of the schools. One of my priorities is to dedicate time weekly to visit all the Worcester Public Schools.
In the last four days, I have met with the District Administrative Team to discuss the current initiatives and dedicated work currently happening in the district. I attended the board meetings of the Worcester Education Collaborative and the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce where I gave presentations of my goals as Superintendent and the opportunities for community involvement. I also had the honor of speaking at the graduations for both Claremont Academy and University Park Campus Schools. I am inspired by the looks of accomplishment in the faces of the students and the pride shown by their parents. The personal devotion of the faculty to each of their students was evident as they watched the graduates receive their diplomas.
Today I joined the visit at North High School by MA Commissioner of Education Mitchell Chester, Senior Associate Commissioner, Russell Johnston and MA DESE staff. North High administration, staff and students presented a comprehensive summary of their school improvement work that was evidenced by teacher and student observations and testimonies.
I look forward to my continued conversation with all of you. Happy Memorial Day Weekend.
